University is a rewarding and exciting time not only for students, but for families too. As the parent, grandparent or guardian of a McGill student or graduate, you’re a vital part of the University's diverse community of support – from near or far!
Below are our recommendations on how to get the most out of McGill, whether on campus or in your own community.

Join us for some terrific – and informative – events!
McGill parents are welcome at any McGill events – we have hundreds worldwide every year. A complete calendar is available here. A few that we recommend for new McGill parents include:
Parents Tent Look
for our giant white tents on campus in August, so we can welcome you to
the McGill family. Parents and students can get answers to questions,
sign up for services and connect with other McGill families.
- New Student Send-Offs Every
summer, McGill hosts new student information events in cities around
the world. Incoming students and their families get to ask questions and
learn about campus life from McGill staff, students and alumni before
they head to Montreal. NEW this year: virtual send-offs!
- Homecoming Celebration Weekend Homecoming is the perfect time to visit students and McGill campus. Thousands of alumni and friends return to Montreal every fall for campus and city tours, educational events and lectures, the Homecoming football game, and a special event just for McGill family members.
McGill’s network of parents and family members are active on Facebook as the “McGill International Parents Council” group. Feel free to ask questions and share your stories and advice.
