Another champion for higher education takes on top volunteer role

John McCall MacBain is already a volunteer extraordinaire as honorary chair of Made by McGill: the Campaign for Our Third Century, and Chair of the Principal’s International Advisory Board. Come July 1, he’ll take on an even bigger volunteer role as the University’s 20th Chancellor, when Chancellor Michael Meighen (above right) wraps up seven years of dedicated service to McGill.

Alumni voices help shape anti-Black racism plan
In 2020, as people around the globe protested against injustice and racism, McGill deepened its commitment to confronting anti-Black racism. Sandrine Ntibarigobeka and the McGill Black Alumni Association added their voices to help develop the University’s new Action Plan to Address Anti-Black Racism.

Principal Emeritus Bernard Shapiro builds on legacy to McGill
Bernard Shapiro has been part of McGill for much of its recent history: as an undergraduate student, volunteer, and of course, Principal. As McGill prepares to celebrate its Bicentennial, Shapiro is now helping the University look towards an even stronger third century through the 200 for 200 Legacy Challenge.

Made by paying it forward
When she relocated to San Francisco, Nawal Ghali tapped into the McGill network for help in finding a job. As president of the McGill Alumni Association of San Francisco/Bay Area, she has helped stage online events during the pandemic that have been a hit with alumni.
